Happy Easter, FUNDAHMER family!
We are happy to annouce a new long-term volunteer opportunity here at FUNDAHMER in El Salvador, working together with staff and the communities to stay in touch and communicate effectively between El Salvador and our sister churches, schools, universities, families an groups around the world! In the last few years, we have had quite a few new groups come visit us (shout out to Hoban, Washington University in St. Louis, Boston College High School, Family to Family-parents of Brophy students, and Good Shepherd Parish in Wayland, MA!), and there are some exciting new initiatives in the sister communities (like the silo project, fish ponds, the Sacacoyo Kitchen Project, interviews in San Pedro, and, of course, continued scholarship program growth). It’s a lot for one person to handle, so over the last couple years, we’ve been making the slow transition to having TWO long-term, full-time delegations/sister community volunteers here in El Salvador!
The experience of solidarity and of sharing and learning with volunteers is an important part of FUNDAHMER’s story; we’ve had volunteers from more than 15 different countries over the years, and the experience of dreaming and working together is one that enriches us all deeply. We are hoping to have the delegations and sister community volunteers on rotating periods of service, so we are looking for someone to come in late summer/fall 2014 and commit to two years with us! Our FUNDAHMER family has always been a good network for finding dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to come help us out, so if you know of anyone, send them our way! We’ve posted the position description on Idealist.org (click here), or write to us at email@example.com for more info and an application!
