Our exciting news today is that FUNDAHMER staff will be touring the United States this fall! José Gomez, who has been working with FUNDAHMER and the Christian Base Communities of El Salvador for 14 years, will be traveling; some of you may know him from your delegations, and he also coordinates many of FUNDAHMER’s community development projects. He will be accompanied by Laurel Marshall, a solidarity volunteer with FUNDAHMER since 2011. Together, they will be visiting sister communities, delegation groups, and new communities that may be interested in learning more about El Salvador, the Christian Base Communities, community-based organizing and development work, and the importance of solidarity in our work for a better possible world. We wanted to pass along the news and a tentative itinerary (below) so that you can meet up with us if we’ll be close to you!
During the visits, José and Laurel will be meeting with sister communities as well as talking to potential new groups about the current reality of El Salvador, FUNDAHMER’s pastoral, social, and sustainable development work in the communities, and why solidarity and sister community relationships are an important part of what we do! Each will share some personal testimony of what it has meant to each to work at FUNDAHMER and will offer some suggestions as to how to get involved!
Our tentative (but each day more sure!) itinerary is as follows:
Week of September 22: Palm Desert, CA / Phoenix, AZ
Week of September 29: San Jose, CA / Portland, OR
Week of October 6: Portland, OR / (TBD: Bellingham, WA or Raleigh, NC)
Week of October 13: St. Louis, MO / Chicago, IL / Detroit, MI
Week of October 20: Columbus, Cincinnati, and Akron, OH / Cayuga, NY
Week of October 27: Farmington, CT / Boston, MA
If you don’t see your city listed, or if you do, and you’d like to be involved in hosting a talk or event, email Laurel at email@example.com, and we can work something out! We’d love to have as many folks involved as possible!
